SOCIAL CONCERN COMMITTEE OF SPRINGFIELD GARDENS WELCOMES YOU
Make a Difference Today
Social Concern is a 501 C 3 organization incorporated in 1970. While its primary goal was to operate as an education action agency, it has since championed economic development, health services, senior issues and more.

ABOUT
Social Concern Committee was formed in 1969 as an education action program tasked with the following:
To involve and inform community residents of all local issues connected with community affairs
To prepare community residents for school decentralization by sponsoring town hall meetings
To develop leadership skills and inform other community residents, so that the community schools could be improved in cooperation with the parent association and local school boards
To foster the development of education committees in civic organizations and block associations
To work for the development of common aims and actions for effective programs for pre-schoolers, elementary and secondary schoolers, college eligibles, vocational-technical enrollees and basic adult education.

Today, the committee is charged with continuing the vision of its founder, the late Cynthia Jenkins, to serve the community's economic development, educational and health services needs.
